SPECIAL EVENT

GALA CHARITY JAZZ NIGHT
at Number 8 High Street
Pershore WR10 1BG
on Friday 17th May

Pershore Jazz in partnership with the Rotary Club of Pershore are proud to present a Gala Charity Jazz night at the Number 8 Community Arts Centre in Pershore on 17 May 2019 featuring the world-famous ‘Pasadena Roof Orchestra’ who will be playing the finest music from the 1920s and 1930s

2019 marks the 50th anniversary of this outstanding Orchestra during which it has played in most of the major concert houses in Europe, including the Musikhalle in Hamburg, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Queen Elizabeth Hall London, the National Concert House in Dublin, the Doelen in Rotterdam. It has toured the USA four times, recorded more than forty albums and CDs.  The Orchestra has completed a soundtrack for ‘Just a Gigolo’ 1980 with David Bowie and Marlene Dietrich (her last film) and provided music for films, such as the ‘Comedian Harmonists’ (Josef Vilsmaier). It has played at Buckingham Palace, and its soundtracks have been used in numerous advertising campaigns

The orchestra presents an unbeatable live concert presenting the songs of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and orchestrations from Duke Ellington, Ray Noble, Fletcher Henderson. The show also includes songs that were sung by Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby and Al Bowlly, all served up with a liberal dash of ‘British humour’ as one critic put it ‘Unbeatable, pure Champagne’!

Their repertoire currently comprises over 200 titles of jazz, early swing and dance music from the era and includes famous tunes such as ‘Puttin on the Ritz’, ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’, ‘The Lullaby of Broadway’, as well as hot numbers from the twenties such as Duke Ellington’s ‘Black and Tan Fantasy’ and ‘Truckin.’

Tickets for what will be a fun and memorable night of hot dance jazz music from the inter-war years are available directly from Number 8 (8 High Street, Pershore, WR10 1BG)

Link to: Number 8 Online Ticket Sales.

All proceeds from this event will go to aid the valuable work of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

If you have a question about this event, please contact Brian Jones on 01386 244883.
